9/30/2003 - Russell Corporation Views Scales in Mexico over the Internet

RUSSELL'S DOUG BENTLEY WITH JAGX, SIMULATOR, AND SERVER

With the changes in the textile market created by NAFTA in the 1990's Russell Corporation was forced to move some of its manufacturing overseas in order to remain competitive.  With the inherent problems of an overseas operation Russell was looking for ways to automate the plants, as well as to view the operation of its foreign employees.

Birmingham-Toledo provided the solution using the versatile JagXTREME controller, Toledo weighing bases, and MT Connection software.  The weighing operations can now be viewed by Russell employees in Alexander City, Alabama in "real time" as they occur in Mexico.  The JagXTREME controller includes an embedded web server which can be brought up on the internet like any other web page.  MT Connection software allows Russell to view the operation as it occurs.

The Russell Corporation IT personnel liked the idea when it was presented to them in May of 2003.  Computer programmers are hands-on, "show me" people, though.  Russell's Doug Bentley was presented with a JagXTREME controller and a load cell simulator courtesy of Birmingham-Toledo to use for as long as he liked to shape the programming to his liking.

Bentley used the JagXTREME standard ethernet-ready connection to connect to the Russell server.  The Russell "Eagle" server tracks data concerning all aspects of receiving, processing, order filling, and shipping.  The JagXTREME and MT Connection software were a perfect fit for Russell's world-wide system requirements.
